For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.the desktop is windows xp with a netgear dg834g router which is correctly setup. I can't see that the difference in os makes any difference.. The desktop transmits the correct signal and the asus receives a 100% signal with other signals at a much lower level. I think I'll arrange to take the asus round to a known site where I can try to connect.
How does
1 "can't connect to my desktop"
turn into
2 not connecting wirelessly to router.
"I can't see that the difference in os makes any difference"
(if the question is 1 - of course it does ... if 2 of course it doesn't - it does help when the question relates to the problem!)
... if wep, wap, psk or whatever security is enabled
you need to enter the key as part of establishing the connection
(assuming the relpy bears any resemblence to reality).
I daren't ask what "corectly setup" entails - obviously it's not ... or you'd be connected.
