Wireless network
How can I secure my wireless network. I have looked over various sites which tell me what I need to do but not HOW to do it. I need a step by step guide as I'm not good at these things!!!

Basicaly you would type in the IP address of your wireless access point or router into Internet Explorer. From there you will see all it's settings. Go for WPA security as WEP can be cracked. The longer the passphrase the better. Put this on all systems that access the wireless network. You can additionally put the MAC address of each machine into the router so nobody outside your network has access.

but give us a make/model
the thing to remember is that wire is faster and more secure.
wireless is meant to be accessed .... so it's always open to grabs...
it realy depends on the circumstances ... in an area like mine ... no one owns a computer ... no need to get silly.
at work ... we tie down the open links ... with mac filtering
wep wap wpa psk .... it sounds secure - but none of it is realy ... 20 mins and i can open any router (I'm not good - it's just laughably easy if you have the right tools.)
wep is good enough under most circumstances ...
mac filtering makes it a little better ...
but the more you do - the more time your router spends decoding and encoding ... so in a busy resedential area ... your "up to" 8meg is almost impossible.
don't be paranoid ... stop the opportunist with wep .... and mac filtering
unless you are a bank ... why would anyone seriously try to access you??
