XP updates

I've just been given an old machine by a friend . It has XP but not been used for ages . Downloaded & installed WGA tool & SP 3 no problem but it is now giving me 11 more updates including I.E. 7 however it says 'size' 0 kb time to download 0 secs .Update failed . Anybody any ideas why ?

I reinstalled Windows XP (no service packs included), then downloaded SP3 and it was fine.
Then I downloaded the next lot of updates, including IE&, and got the same problem as you.
I seem to remember on the Windows update page there was a place that showed the error number.
I did a search on that and found a "fix" which solved the problems and allowed me to download all the fixes successfully.
Hunt round the Windows Update page and see if you can find the error number.

vehelpfulguy thanks for the suggestions , unfortunately none of them worked .
However I was directed to this http://www.autopatcher.com/ from another forum . Amazing piece of free software . Did the job .
