Probably removed Adobe Reader, free (XP) dl here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep 2.html or search the site for other versions. There are other programs that can read pdfs as well.
indeed there are
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.phpi s a fraction of the price .... and unless you are a power user you won't notice any difference .... except about 80 Mb more free space
Adobe Reader is free (though it is a bit of a resource hog)...

Lemarchand, Thanks for your help I've been trying with Adobe all afternoon I think it has downloaded but setup keeps stopping at 1.32%
If it's Adobe you're having a problem with, right-click the downloaded file and check its properties - should be about 33.5MB for XP and Vista. If it's not, it's not downloaded properly. Try deleting the file and re-downloading (try that anyway).

Also check add/remove programs. Is it listed there, or any older versions? (Current version is 9). Try removing those, then re-installing a freshly-downloaded file.

Foxit (AC's recommendation) should also work if you've had enough of Adobe.

What version of Windows are you running, by the way?
foxit reader is free as mentioned and for speed it loads a pdf in seconds - try it you'll like it

Hello again, no success so far and I even managed to lose internet access. I seem to get Adobe to download but will not install, it's about to drive me round the bend! Running Windows XP.
I can't see how problems with Adobe would cause 'net problems. (I take it it's working now?).

What about trying Foxit or PDF-Xchange ( http://www.docu-track.com/downloads/users/ )?

I'm wondering if you have other problems, though. Have you run a spyware or anti-virus scan recently?

Does Adobe show in add/remove programs, by the way?
only thing I can see with internet is adobe installs an explorer plug-in
so I suppose could stop browser browsing????

tara! If I were you I'd stop fiddling ... if you can uninstall what you do have .... and give foxit a go

the more you do the more can go wrong (as you are finding)

move away from the prog!
get your system running and then consider your position - do you need all the facilities of a monster reader?
