usb will never quite be as consistent as ida or sata. and they tend to be pricier

but there is nothing wrong with an external burner (audio quality comes from the sound card not the player

prices vary ... �35 - �135
si set a budget ... and stick with names you know
amacom, toshiba, LG ....
unless portability is key ... don't get a slimline ...
ikkle = hot - big =cool .... cool is better (within reason)
