hard drive problems
I purchased a laptop from Comet 4 months ago and installed AVG free antivirus. Up untill last week I have had no problems, but on boot-up I had displayed a 'hard drive iminent failure', i did a system restore with the c.d. provided but the same happened, so then did a system check which took 38 hours and still same problem. When i took it back to Comet they have put the blame on it being a trojan virus, and it looks like they will wash there hands of the problem, is it possible the problem couls be caused by a trojan virus?

it has a trial period ... you only need a couple of days.
you are looking for SMART diagnostics report
when you go back take the result with you or tell them this is obviously a SMART 1720 failure report (make is sound as if you are confident) - tell them to look on the net ....
what they really want is for you to wait 'till the drive fails (which i almost certainly will)
failing that the manufacturer of your HDD will also have a tool in the support section of their site
