I have an Olympus camera with XD card which means that I have to use camera and usb cable to download my photos. In the past I've been able to do this and still keep the pics on the card but for some reason lately after d/loading they are deleted.from the card.Has anyone any ideas as to why this should suddenly happen???? Thanks.

Whatever program you're using to download the pictures should give you the option of deleting them from the camera or not. It's possible that you've installed or updated another program which has taken over the default status for doing this - Nero is a common culprit - or you've picked the wrong option once and ticked the box to repeat the action every time afterwards.
Whatever program you use to download the pics should have options somewhere, either during the process or somewhere in the dropdown menus. If you'd said what you were using I might have been able to help more.

Hi there Glencraig, thanks for your answer.
The method I have been using is>my computer>control panel>open up G drive(usb port)then dropdown panel>my Documents. Then transfer the photos which it does but also deletes them from the card.
Sounds like you are "moving" them rather than copying.

When you drag and drop them, use the right mouse button. This should then give you the option to copy or to move. Sounds like it defaults to "move".
