My wife has started a computer course and will not use my computer or my little office. However I have an older computer running 98 elswhere in the house So can I replace 98 with XP so that I can connect to my wifi and download suitable software for her.

the minumum recomended specs are

Processor speed (MHz) 233
RAM (MB) 64
Free hard disk space (GB) 1.5
Display resolution 800 x 600

However it would run like a pig on the specs above!

Also the computer will not have a wireless casrd so you'd have to buy one of those too

Thank you.Chuck My old machine machine will more than meet these needs and I have a spare router as well.
why swap it if you are just using it as a surfer?

spare router?????

you only need one ... but then each machine needs either a network card - or a wireledd doobie

I've almost answered my own question - more likely to get an XP driver than 98 - personally I'd stick with 98 if I could get the card working.

it's far less hungry - and as long as you back up the drivers

it's optimum
XP has a nasty habit of running out of wind on the slightly more senior system
