Hi hope you can elp me out again on this one
I am running xp with the xp firewall and avg anti virus the past week i have caught a malware infection called antivurus 2008 and thanks with your help on here I got rid of it.
In my taskbar at the bottom there is the avg logo but since I got this malware infection twice now there have been 2 avg logos in the askbar every now and then and one of them is slightly different as it has a little white shape like a curser in the centre of it.

When you drag your curser over it it says that it is scanning your computer and when you try to stop it scanning then nothing happens it just keeps on scanning.

When I go onto avg I have no automatic scan set up am I right to worry about this if so ******** what to do.
I have just runlware scanner on it again and it picked up a few things and said that there were 2 that it could not heal so am now running a full virus scan again after doing a spyware scan again.

BTW the window firewall is crap... download zonealarm and install it.

it takes a little "training" for the first few days, just remember to click on always allow if you recognise the program when it pops up a warning

Yea leg that is what I used to get rid of the antivurus 2008 malware last week and it sorted it just like that as our tommy would say, this is a different thing but chucky has put my mind to rest on that one.

Cheers and see your for grief in the reef soon matey.
is there any chance it could be a firewall ??
i get the same sort of thing with my Webroot security.
2 icons. one for the security, one for a firewall. the firewall has a brick that flickers when it checking.

Tis Ok now jasp it's all sorted and a virus scan found 4 threats and removed them.
when i have 2 avg logos running and one with a little white cursor in it. it usually means that there is a scan running... if i double click the one with the white cursur it usually brings up a page and on the left underneath scan here is a drop down with the scheduled scan. when i click that it brings up the scan that is running. which i can stop pause or carry on. when there is no scan running at all i only have 1 avg icon on the bottom right of my screen
