When in MSN, go to Options in the tabs go to messages, read to the bottom, there should be "Message History"

If "Automatically keep a history of my conversations" is ticked, then go down a bit futher and there should be "Save my conversations in this folder"

Just follow the path to the chat-logs. Most of the time though, the chat-logs are in your My Documents.

Thanks Matty34 for speedy reply. I was able to follow your instructions but have discovered that I only have a message history for one of my contacts. For the other ones the history ends in August '08 so I don't know what has happened. Any suggestions?
Question Author
I have a feeling I used to be able to click on the contact's name and it said, 'show message history ' but I definitely can't do that now.
Well I can , right - click , view > message history . It's greyed out if the person is offline
Question Author
That was what I meant, but when I right click now it does't give me a view option, not even a greyed out one. Just options to send an email, block, move delete, start video conversation etc but definitely no VIEW. Also why would some people's history stop being saved since September even though I was speaking to them on Messenger last week.
Question Author
Not sure if I should ask this question again or can continue this thread but here goes. When I open MSM I get tabs File, Actions, Tools, Help. Tools is the only one giving me an Options choice which then gives me Tabs, Personal, Phone, Preferences, Privacy and Connection but I can't find the Messages Tab. Can anyone help please?
