IP Address?

Can anyone help me with this Please......

I live abroad and cannot view some of the 'catch up' programmes on the BBC/Channel4 websites etc as it says they are only available to people who live in the UK.

Someone has told me that all I need to do is 'block my IP address' and then I will be able to view them.
Is this true?
And if so, how easy is it to do?

Nope, it's not true. But you could try connecting through a UK proxy. Try googling "Free UK Proxy"

hmmm, Blocking your IP address and still expecting the internet to work would be a little like hiding your house and still expecting post to be delivered!

A UK proxy would, in theory, enable you to view the page, but don't count on it actually working. Most UK proxy sites will be blocked my the BBC and C4 etc as they know they are used by people outside the UK to view their programmes and also most proxy sites, even if not blocked, are far to slow to use the on demand TV services.

If you have a willing friend in the UK with a PC & broadband connection, a more expedient solution might be to ask your friend to download & capture any 'catch up' programmes, and then email the video files to you. (Better check what their monthly download limits are first, tho')
