connecting laptop to tv

can connect my laptop to tv but cannot get any sound. Am using a vga lead. Do not have an hdmi socket. Any ideas how i can get sound

connect an audio lead as well!

VGA is video only. you need a 3.5mm headphone jack to 2 X phono lead

actually thinking about it check the back of your TV first, you may have a 3.5mm audio input and not 2 x phono inputs. in which case you need

Thanks for that ChuckFickens will be able to sort it out now just wasn't sure what sort of lead I needed for sound.
