When I got the same message, I uninstalled it and downloaded it again.
It`s been ok since, but I`ve no idea what the message means.

Oh well, uninstalled and installed again, but no chamge. Did yours also say the database was outdated? I tried upgrading but it just comes up with the same message. Thanks again.
Anyone else have an idea of what to do?
I just googled the problem, and the only suggestions seem to be, apart from reinstalling is to download from a different site.
I always use file hippo for downloading, if you want to try this uninstall again, then type avg file hippo into google and download latest version.
There seems to be a lot of people with the problem, some have given up and downloaded another free programme such as avast.
Personally I don`t like avast, I would give it another go with avg and see how you go on.
Just a thought, but have you uninstalled Norton properly, I believe it can be hard work to fully remove, you need to download a removal tool from symantec.

Thought I would let you know how I got on as you were so helpful. I did everything advised by you and friends but nothing worked until I found some files left by Norton after uninstalling it and when I removed them.......bingo! it worked. Thanks for your help.
Should have realised the connection with norton, it can be really difficult to remove completely.
