monitor has verticle lines...

i was working on my compurt ( vista..and all of a sudden everything just disappeared and just verticle coloured lines appeared checked everything...couldnt switch computer off had to remove the power plug switched the computer on again just verticle lines..then i used another monitor just showing these vertical lines.......any idea what the problem is ..grateful..thanks

take the top/side off your computer and if it is a separate graphics card then reseat it (just remove and put back in)

also do the same with your memory chips, just pop them out and put them back in. if you have more than one memory chip then try with just one installed as well (try both in turn)

If none of the above solves the problem then oh dear!

Sounds like your Graphics card is shot.
