laptop problem

my sister has asked me to look at her sons laptop. it turns on with a black screen saying there was a problem with the last shutdown and do you want to start windows normally? i clicked to do so, but it seems to start windows then it goes back to the black screen. the other options are to start in safe mode, to start in safe mode with networking and to start in safe mode with prompts. i have tried all of these but it all comes back to the same black screen. the only other thing that i can press is F2, but i wouldnt know what to do so havent tried that. any ideas? or should i just give it back to her and tell her to take it to a shop.

i cant even get to the windows page. even if i do a start up to when the pc was last working correctly it goes straight back to the black screen with all the start up options

what make of laptop is it?

and did it come with recovery CD's as you may have to use them to repair windows on it.

t-to one time, open the windows, security mode. and restart. then this problem will go away from you.
