Toshiba laptop problems

I have Toshiba Satellite laptop which is approximately 8 years old. It was working perfectly yesterday but this morning when I switched it on I got only a black screen and a series of 3 or 4 long loud beeps. After this nothing more happened although the power light remained on. It is fully charged. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - except chucking it in the bin... Thanks in advance.

4 beeps memory ... or mobo... from what you say ... it's not good ... my money would be on mobo

Probably worth just removing and putting the memory back in just to re seat it. if that doesn't help then as above, probably mother board gone.

at 8 years old it's done pretty well for a laptop it's time for a new one!

if you have anything stored on the hard drive you want then it will cost you about 20quid for an external usb caddy to put the old lappy drive in so you can recover the stuff from it.

if there is nothing on the hard drive you want to keep then still best to remove it and physically destroy the drive before deposing of it.

ACtheTROLL - I said 3 or 4 because sometimes its 3 and sometimes its 4! Plus I thought a mobo was a music award.

Just shows how wrong you can be then doesn't it
a mobo is the thing that's probably faulty on your machine

3 or 4 is important (as is keeping a tight hold of your teddy)
It's got to be said these codes are generic ...
but both indicate your music award is faulty

If reseating doesn't work
I suggest you reach for google and get searching
or see if you can hit the bin from 10 feet
