A specification for a turntable to copy Vinyl to PC says
the PC needs
USB audio input sound card

Never heard of this before can someone tell me as I am only familiar with the Soundblaster Audigy Card with Line In connection

Could be the soundblaster is for improved pc audio output, something like bose!!
Have a look at Easy cap video adapter with audio software.

It sounded to me as though the PCI Soundcard would have a USB connection that is what seems confusing
