Well you are both right to an extent. Before deleting it per SL's instructions, you should de-activate it per WB's.
BUT, some screen savers come with excess baggage, so before doing that, you should check to see if there is an uninstall option in Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, and if there is, uninstall it.
