Hi everyone, and Happy New Year to you all.

My wife has just bought a new laptop. However, the cd/dvd drive is behaving oddly. When you put a disc in it it starts to spin, then stops, then starts again, then stops, and so on for abour six tries, then it just gives up and does nothing.
It is definately set to autorun data and audio cd/dvds, (and everything else!) in Windows control panel. I have looked at the drive in explorer when there is a disc in there and it says that there is nothing in the drive. The laptop is running Vista.

Many thanks for any ideas.
