I recently sent a couple of video clips of the dog on his treadmill to a friend but they were refused as too large (the two came to 23.5)
What is the limit one can send as an attachment and is there another way of sending them. TIA

Email systems and ISPs all have different attachement limits.

But overall, sending over 20Mb of video in an email is a "BAD" thing to do.

Most people have a limit of how large their in basket will be so sending large attachments like this will probably exceed their email size limit.

Why not put them on youtube ?

If their are two video clips you could send them one at a time (one in one email, the other in a different email).

Leave a gap between each (a day or so) to allow the person to look at the first email, and then either delete it, or at least save the attachment to their hard disk and THEN delete it.

That way both emails are not clogging up their in basket.

Many thanks VHG for your replies, I will in the future do as you suggest and leave a gap of 24 hours or so. I did send separate mails but only about 10 mins. between mails.
Hope this is not going to be too complicated question how do I send attachments by YTube. Thanks in advance

You dont send attachments by YouTube.

You put the video on YouTube.

Then you send an email to the person telling them the video is on YouTube with JUST THE LINK TO THE VIDEO in the email.

You don't send attachments by Youtube, you upload the files to Youtube, decide whether you want them to public or private. Youtube will then tell you the URL of your video, which is all you need to send your friend. Your friend clicks the URL (or types it into his/her browser), and watches it on Youtube.

This has a number of advantages:
You don't clog up your friend's inbox or exceed their quota
They don't have to download it as an e-mail, but can watch it at their convenience
You can send the URL (which is a few bytes) to all your friends without clogging up the network.

Just go to http://uk.youtube.com/index
Click Upload/Video File.
If you're not already signed up, you will be asked to sign up - just fill in the form and away you go.

Of course, it's all free!

Many thanks Rojash and VHG for the info. will give it a go tonight,. I had signed up for youtube a long time back but never looked as did not know how it worked.

Hi There, for a little more privacy you could also upload your files to a file sharing service site like wikisend. they allow you to upload up to 100MB for free and in turn give or send you via email, a unique download address for your file which you can send to your friend via your normal email. You can adjust the number of days the file remains on the site before its deleted
