right click on desktop select new then shortcut and type in www.answerbank.co.uk when prompted for the location of the item.
Or if answerbank (or any other web site) is on your browser favorites then just RIGHT click on it from the favorites menu and, with the mouse button held down, drag and drop it on to the desktop.

This works on IE, not sure if it works on all browsers.
Am I being dim? I can't see the point of putting web page short cuts on your desk top
Neither can I, but some people seem to like cluttering up their desktop with shortcuts to webpages.

Makes you wonder why they bother to put a favorites feature on browsers.
Or a bookmark toolbar on FireFox

Maybe the clue is in the name - shortcut.

I dont do it myself, but with a web site short cut you click on it and it opens the browser and straight away you are on the AB page.

Without the shortcut you have to open the browser, then open the favorites menu, then select the AB link (and if you have hundreds of items on your favorites menu that can take a while).

I have a short cut on my desktop for my browser, so I suppose why not have a short cut to a particular web site that you visit a lot.
VHG - I use Firefox and I have at least six pages opening whenever I click open it. All the pages I need to be open all the time.

I have icons on the bookmarks toolbar - one click and the page opens in a new tab.

I couldn't be doing with a cluttered desk top
I'm beginning to think I'm thicker than yer average thickie!!!I Iv'e only got three things on my desktop...NOTHING on favourates (wouldn't know how) And I want Ebay on so that I can click straight on it instead of (A) clicking on Google and(B) then putting in ebay....It's QUICKER see you? And I STILL don't know how to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open ebay as usual

Right click with your mouse. A long list appears.

Up popped "create shortcut" which i clicked on and lo and behold..... God knows what went wrong when I tried it last night.... Iv'e just found out how "Favourites" works as well! I reckon computers are wonderful things now I fully understand them.... Thanks a lot to all of you for your patience and help, and if theres now anything I can help YOU with, don't hesitate to ask! Cheers, John
Ive always used Internet Explorer.
Is Firefox superior to I.E. and does it have to be one or the other? Obviously you would not want to keep changing over.

By the way ETHEL what do you put on your desktop if you don't like it cluttered up
Johnt - yep I know, I was being lazy!
I expected Ethel to have something to say about Firefox.
Can you answer my question?
If you use Firefox then the "Morning Coffee" add-on can remember your frequently used web sites and load them automatically when you execute the browser. It can also do different things on different days.
Right click anywhere on the screen while on E BAY and the shortcut cue will appear.
