ibook battery question.
I am running my G4 iBook exclusively via mains power as a 'desktop' machine for around 10 hours a day. Should I remove the battery as it is not being used at all and store it or leave it in the laptop?

It does the battery good to let it fully discharge every now and then. I believe otherwise you may find the battery gets ruined. I know a new battery I put in an old laptop I had mains connected 24/7 soon lost its will to live. I suggest you discharge it )unplug power and leave laptop on for a few hours) and then remove it if you are only ever going to use mains power;
the fully discharge thing relates to nicad batts ...
LiLon supposedly isn't bothered either way
except - now manufacturers are saying that you shouldn't fully discharge
down to 20% is optimum ... and is also good if the device is to be stored.
the big killer is heat ... and on psu most devices run quite hot ... so yes you should take the battery out
(there is another however however)
often the battery forms part of the frame - so without it ... if you are careless the device could over flex and cause damage
straightforward isn't it!
