A variation on my previous question, which produced no answers. Can anyone tell me how to disable a pre-installed Personal Backup programme when running System Recovery? At present it is impossible to return to factory settings, and this is causing a major problem.

doesn't make sense ... if you are returning to factory you are overwriting backup prog

if you mean system restore that should start before the prog

why not uninstall the backup prog?

I am trying to uninstall the backup programme but can't find how to do it. Control Panel Add/Remove doesn't work.If I could remove the backup programme, system recovery (on my PC) would take me back to factory settings and I could start again.
still doesn't make sense
let's start again
which windows
what is the prog?
are you trying to do system restore - or return to factory

is the uninstall on the start menu group?

I have now received advice, through a separate enquiry, from someone who understands the apparently unusal System Recovery/Personal Backup installed on my computer, which you are obviously unfamiliar with, and my problem is now resolved. I will now close this thread.
was he clairvoyant ?

you still haven't said what the prog is ... or what the solution was ... so still no-one here has benefited from your question.
