Please can someone help as I am going mad. I just bought a new apple imac. Can't really use it as my mind is pc but am trying to make the switch. Basically I have a digital piano and am trying to get it to talk to the mac, I have plugged in the USB cable. Then I remember the CD-rom with the drivers on it. I am assuming I'll need to install this first so that they can both talk to each other. Trouble is whe I put the CD in nothing happens. I think it might be just designed for pcs.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get this up and running? I've sent a message to yamaha support but thought in the meantime I'd try on here. Any help appreciated. Cheers
Yea, grab the Mac drivers (assuming they exist) for the piano from the website.
Many drivers will already be included with the Mac system. However, these are usually for more popular items, like printers, scanners, keyboards and mice.
You should be able to use your keyboard without extra drivers using Garageband.
Rather than go through all the options here. Open Garageband and hit the Help button on the top menu bar. Type "connecting musical equipment" and follow the instructions.
I play guitars and keyboards through this with no problems and lots of extra abilities in music and sound shaping
