I have Vista Home Basic with HDD Capacity of 66.5GB, of which 50.7 GB is free space.(Plenty Free)
I use the Tools Temp file clean up facility and also CCleaner and everything seems ok. However when i do a weekly scan with Avira it indicates whilst scanning that there are still Temp Files on HD and it also indicates and refers to IE5 even though I am using IE7.
There are a few of you out there who are far more Computer literate than me, so I'm hoping someone can enlighten me on this. I'm a bit puzzled !!!!!!!!

you can pretty much guarantee that several temp files will be recreated within minutes of you clearing them, so thats nothing to worry about.

And the reference to IE5 is probably just because Avira has to be able to deal with systems that may have IE5 still installed so it will run a scan of IE5 files as default, as it happens it is probably not actually scanning anything at this point as you won't have the files there. (though something in the back of my head is telling me that it might be because IE5 was the first of the current family of IE so it may just be a legacy thing due to that!)

Neither issue is anything to be worried about though.

Many thanks ChuckFickens for your response.
As you say it is just an anomaly that occurs in the system which I cannot do anything about. At least it is not a virus or worse. These PC's are strange beasts and seem to have a mind of their own at times. I am not technically aware enough when it comes to understanding the ins and out of computer programming etc, unlike yourself, VHG, and a few others on here, and I quite often read your posts when helping others as I can pick up a few useful tips.
Free advice and help when it is given is priceless and I think most people on here appreciate that.
