DirectX is a totally different kettle of whitebait, in that it is an API (Application Programming Interface) that allow programs a more direct access to devices such as the video adaptor and sound card. This gives better performance than the standard interface as is especially useful when writing games and multi-media applications.

Thanks very much.
I don`t appear to have it and because of this I can`t update my Vaio laptop. It keeps saying I am either not running Internet Exployer...which I am or don`t have ACTIVE X.I looked this up and get info. saying it is better not to have it but I do need it.Where can I download it from?
I do get Windows updates which are done automatically but when I run it from Windows update..it just goes on and on when checking for any.
I do have iit on the desk computer and doesn`t cause any problems so should I put it into my laptop?
