We use compatible ones from IJT and have no problems with them. Our printer is DX 8450,and the cost of the Epson cartridges has gone up so much, we buy these all the time.Hope this helps!
I use Epsom compatibles, and have always found them ok, but have never tried printing photos with them.
Epson cartridges, sorry, must have been thinking of Epsom salts.
I use compatibles on my Epson DX4400 and have printed out loads of photo's on glossy paper. They are just fine.
