Canon Flatbed Canoscan LiDE 90
Have been using this scanner for a while. For no apparent reason the computer stopped recognising the scanner and it disappeared from the list of hardware attached. The software/driver was still there. The troubleshooting information says to download driver from Canon web site. This I did to no avail. I uninstalled all the software that comes with this item and reinstalled. Still there is no recognition by the computer of the hardware. Has anyone had similar issues and if so what is the solution.

The problem seems to be related to Windows, rather than having anything to do with the specific devices (or their drivers). Try using System Restore, to take your PC's registry back to a date before the problem occurred.

Well thank God I am not only one. Done system restore and got window as follows:
"The necessary file could be missingor damaged, or the settingsare incorrect. Reinstall scanner driver. Scanner driver wil be closed."
This doesn't make sense to me. What is the "Necessary file"?
Again downloaded driver from Canon web site. Tried again then I get a window as follows:
"The scanner driver supported by this software is not installed. Install it and then retry."
Again this does not make sense as I have just installed download!
Also tried unplugging USB and power - both to no avail.
Frustration setting in!!!
