convert vynil to cd

I want to convert vynil to cd and remove clips etc. I have tried audio cleaning lab without success even with email help from customer services. I am not interested in fancy editing or compilation of tracks and programmes - I just want to rerecord some of my classic vynil in a simple and uncomplicated manner. Any ideas please.

if you've got a turntable and amplifier then feed the output from the amplifier into your line in on your computer and use the free software called audacity. It works fine and costs nothing but time!

Thank you both. I have all the necessary equipment including a transcription deck and have tried Audacity. Maybe I am missing something but I can't see how to remove noise and clicks with Audacity. The software I have tried is Audio Cleaning Lab but this does not do as it says. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
