Following my earlier question, will this computer cope with Sims 3?

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page .jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0338389265.1245698765@@@ @&BV_EngineID=ccciadehiglkeflcflgceggdhhmdgmk. 0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=887 247&category_oid=-32657

The processor is an AMD Phenom X4 9650
(2.30GHz, 2MB Cache)

while the system requirements are for

2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

cpu wise it's overkill if anythig...

Graphics card seems crappy though (and thats pretty important)

if you want a gaming machine then graphics cards are as important as CPU's
Yes it will play the sims.

You dont need much of a powerful graphics card to play the sims.

Thanks. It was that 2.3 GHz that worried me, when it said it wants 2.4 P4 (whatever that means)
30 cheaper from currys
https://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/Computing/Desktop+PCs/Base+Units/Acer/Aspire+X3200+/+9650/800778

you could see if 30 will upgrade the graphics

i'd go for this

Thanks AC, but adding the monitor onto that Currys one brings it up to 499, while using discount code 5comp brings the Dixons one with monitor down to below 450.

They are of course the same company anyway.

I'm a bit nervous of specifying purpose built one, as I'm not that sure what I'm doing.

If I got it wrong I would never hear the last of it from 'er indoors.
