WMP 11 and Sony Playlists
Try as I might I cannot create a playlist that is recognised by my Sony MP3 Walkman using WMP11, as recommended by Sony.
So far playlists saved in wpl, asx or m3u formats are all ignored, in fact the file doesn't even appear to have been transferred when synced.
Any ideas how to overcome this please?

Thank you for your prompt suggestion PP1. I've been trying to work this out all night - literally - and I've come to the conclusion that whilst Sony tell you to use WMP 11 to produce playlists, NONE of the format choices available are compatible with the Sony Walkman.
Further digging has suggested that Sony only recognises the pla format, but cannot find software that will produce playlists in that format.
Why are Sony making such a simply task so damn awkward!!
Am off to bed - hopefully to awake in a better frame of mind!

Have you tried id3 or mp3? If they don't work you may have a bin-job on your hands. But remember, the later the model, the more the restrictions there are built in-technically speaking, that is,just like what you are experiencing now-which in a way is not what you want. So go for the simple, but effective one.
Tried id3 and mp3 - in what respect? My issue is simply that I cannot make a playlist in conventional software, ie WMP11, which the Sony mp3 (NWZ-A816) recognises.
I need to know what sort of software WILL produce playlists in the "pla" format that Sony in its infinite wisdom has chosen to use.
The actual mp3 works perfectly - except for this inability to accept playlist made via WMP11 - the software that is bundled with it!
