slow sluggish laptop
My laptop is running slow and sluggish. I believe that you can buy registry clean up discs. I ran reg cure and it found many faults but am wary about buying the disc. Will it help or are there free downloadable ones available.any help and info much appreciated.

You need to give a lot more information.
How old is the laptop?
Is there plenty of free space on the hard drive?
Have you ever cleaned out the fans?
What OS is it running?
Is it slow all the time, or just on the internet? Does it play cds and dvds okay?
Have you got a firewall, antivirus and antispyware running? Do you update them and run them regularly?
Do you ever turn the laptop off?
How much RAM has it got?
Look at your task manager. How many processes are running at this minute?

Most of the registry cure programs are a con.
Having a few unused entries in your registry will NOT slow it down very much (if at all).
A lot of people mistake a slow computer for slow broadband. Check to see if you are getting your full broadband speed.
Make sure there is plenty of spare space on your hard disks (full hard disks can slow a PC down).
Make sure you dont have loads of prgrams starting when your PC starts (the more programs that run the slower your PC gets).
Sometimes a complete reinstall of windows can speed things up, although this is a bit drastic for some people, and you will need to backup all your personal files first.
If your computer IS slow it is NOT likely to be caused by the registry.
