Device will not sync with Laptop

Have had to buy a new Laptop and installed the software for my SatNav. Old LT ran Windows XP Home. New LT runs XP Prof. Software loaded ok but when plugging in the SatNav it will not Sync. I'm not a total dummy but not a computer expert. Any help would be most welcome.

PS ... SatNav is Navman N20.
