does anyone know why

my pc keeps shutting itself down. about every 3 days or so. not just the internet, but windows just shuts down also.without me asking it to. im not techy can just about get round the computer. its an old one, not in great condition. my daughter gave it me. got windows xp. no laughing!!! :)

nowt funny with xp - nowt wrong with switching it off - it's not meant to run forever - and if the problem is so intermittent - and doesn't happen while in use

the most obvious on an older machine is overheating
check the cooling fans

down to the shed - screwdriver and a nice soft brush (1/2" paint is good)

open the old girl up - have a good broddle
be gentle
