PageMaker 6.5 compatability?
I have just had to buy a new computer, but when I tried to install it, I was told that my version would not work on Vista, as it is out of date.
Question: Is there a compatable version available on the web? I've looked and cannot find one.
Preferably free, as I cannot afford a new one.
TIA.

Adobe announced in 2004 that it was ending development of PageMaker but would continue to sell and support the current version (PageMaker 7). It does not plan to update any version of PageMaker to support Windows Vista.
It's time to upgrade to Adobe InDesign CS4.
InDesign will still open all your old PageMaker files although some of the formatting might be different but can easily be fixed using InDesign.
There was a work-around for PM 6.5 on Vista but it was very problematic and not worth the hassle, so I would just upgrade to InDesign CS4.
Alternative to InDesign is QuarkXPress. Very expensive.
