Outlook express
I cannot access my in-box. The receiving message box appears in the bottom right and if you come out of outlook express a window remains with a bar on which says receiving message 2 of 10 but the bar doesn't move and after 45 mins or so another window appears something along the lines of it hasn't spoke to the server for 30 seconds do you want to re-connect. At this point I give up.
Can I rectify this myself or should I contact my internet provider? Many thanks.

take the last part of your email address, after the "@" and that's the website you need to visit (with the www in front of it). you then need to find an email logo, and you will need to log in with your email address and email password. all your emails will be there that haven't downloaded onto Outlook. you can then delete the one that is causing the problem.

I have suffered a similar problem in the past – I think that Outlook Express locks up once the memory usage exceeds a preset value. When this happened to me, Outlook Express would not even let me delete items from my mail box (whether on or off line).
I solved the problem using the solution offered by sara3 (downloaded the mail via a website). My PC would then allow me to delete items from my in box – and things worked fine. I now regularly ensure that my inbox does not get too big, by deleting junk mail.

if by chance the mail provider doesn't offer webmail or that doesn't work then mailwasher will let you delete mails directly off your mail server.
