Black Screen...?

My desktop computer shut down suddenly today...for no apparent reason..It restarted itself immediately.
But when it came to show the desktop...the lower half of the screen was black, and the upper half as normal...just showing the desktop image.
Everything seems to work as normal...as soon as I go to my browser I get a full screen again...
I have'nt added anything to the system, and have'nt made any changes.
Have tried restoring it to a couple of days ago, but still get the same result.

Over the past couple of months it has shut down and restarted a few times though...never has this before.

Any ideas would be most welcome.
