Chuck my daughter is trying to send a file (Dentistry homework) to another Nurse, my daughter has Works and her friend has Word, the file won't open at the other end, I had the same problem when she sent it to me to see if I could work it out, I did, by downloading Open office.org, the file opened, her friend has just emailed me and said she received the said document, but it is numbers and figures, not readible, would she have to do something to untick the read only, if so where?

Alternatively, tell your daughter to save the document in RTF format (if Works supports it) and send it again. Finally, your daughter could install Open Office and use copy and paste to get the text into Writer, then save it in Word format, but she might have to do a bit of reformatting before sending it.
