WIRELESS ROUTERS
My internet provider has sent me a wireless router.
I have a desktop PC and two laptops, the latter do have wireless connection built in.
I am not sure about the desktop...when I go to the Control Panel,I have icons to set up Wireless, does this mean it is wireless compatible?

Or go to My Computer - View System Information - Hardware - Device Manager.
Click on 'network adapters' and see if there is any reference to wireless. If there is click on that for more info.

If you don't have wireless on the desktop, why not connect the desktop to the router with an ethernet cable, connect and connect the router to the modem with another ethernet cable. That's the way things are set up here, and as long as the router and modem are on an working, this PC doesn't have to be on to allow the wireless connections to work.
