I have moved my compiuter and seem to have disconected the speakers - I am not familiar with what goes on "under the bonnet" I wouild be grateful if anyone coould help

they plug into the green headphone type socket on the back.

Although I've just been working on a client's machine where the sockets are not colour-coded. This is known as a right b'stard, as you have to get a torch and do that CSI thing where you get it almost horizontal, at whch point you'll be able to pick out the legend from amongst all the corrosion. There's also anothe type. known as an absolute b'stard, where, in place of the legend, is an icon that looks like a teentiny circle with an arrow pointing into it.
