remove outlook express from computer

am a duffer when it comes to computers. I want to remove OE from my computer - have worked out how to save all my contacts by using the export thingie so that's no problem. can't work out how to remove all my saved emails from local folders. when I try the same route I get something like mapi ? can't do this - all the help info mentions microsoft outlook and microsoft exchange but I don't know what this means. thanks in advance - any help greatly appreciated. (think my computer is windows xp.)

Outlook Express comes bundled with Windows XP for free and cannot be removed. Leave it on your PC but just dont use it.

Outlook (as opposed to Outlook Express) is the version of Outlook that come bundled with Microsoft Office (and has extra features).

Exchange is a product used when companies want to have a whole department using Outlook for emails, and can be ignored for your purposes.

Yes it can

Goto add remove programs, click on windows components and remove the tick from beside outlook express.

But I still wonder why the OP wants to do this!

thanks so much everyone - the link to microsoft help was brilliant ChuckFickens - btw what does OP stand for (told you I was a duffer) I want to remove it because I'm now using Yahoo and was told OE was slowing my computer down - is this right? Really appreciate all the trouble taken to reply.

OP means Original Poster (the person who asked the question).
Don't know who told you OE was slowing your computer down, but they clearly know nothing about computers - there's a lot of 'em about.
