Netgear Modem
4 Answers
Hi just hooked up to virgin media got a wireless netgear/router/modem. Anyone know how i can a) Rename the Router from Virgin Media to my own choice and b) change the password virgin gave us to my own. The password i want to change is the one that Virgin give you when you are connecting to the particular network, how do i know my network is secure?. I just dont want to be paying for some other person in my block hooking on to my connection. Sorry if i'm sounding thick, should i just contact Virgin? Do Virgin just hand out these default initial connection passwords to everyone?

Enter your current credentials. IIRC, they are probably just 'admin' and 'password' unless VM supplied you with specific ones.
Then it's really just a matter of going to the Wireless page and changing things.
What make and model of router did they supply you, AAMOI...?

Apologies, should have also mentioned...
Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES rename your wireless network to anything which identifies you personally, your residence, or the make and model of your router.
Wi-fi names which would be particularly stupid would be things like:
Sue@No42
SmithFamilyNetwork
NetgearWNR3500
