deleting icons?

i all ,
i went to uninstall a program i no longer needed, after it was done i noticedwith desktop icon was still there , but it wont let me delete it , i am on vista

Left mouse click on the icon and drag it into the Recyle Bin.
This will delete the Icon.
or you can right click, and then click on delete.
I am not sure if this works with Vista.
