I have taken a few short videos and put them on the computer along with photos but cannot get the videos to open. I have right clicked on the video and selected play, then I do this is come up:
'The selected file has an extension (.MOV) that is not recognised by windows media player, but the player may still be able to plat ip. Because he extension is unknown by the pl;ayer, you should be sure that the file comes from a trustworthy source'.
Windows Media Player is possibly one of the better players for handling audio files, but it's almost certainly the worst possible option for playing videos. The (free) media player most widely recommended by the press and the BBC's technology programmes is VLC:

But the least invasive to your system to play Quick Time (incl .mov files) is to just install Quick Time Alternative Light. This will just install the minimum to play back the Quick Time formats.

Windows media player doesn't support mov video. You may download quicktime player for a try, it can play mov video pretty well.
Or you can follow this guide to convert the mov video to wmv video, then you can use windows media player to play it.
