printer problem
6 Answers
I've just changed my colour cartridge (HP57). which I've done many times before. Immediately afterwards, as usual, it produced its 'test card', but since then I can't print anything. I can't take out and re-insert the cartridge, because the two printer lights (orange and green) are on so that the carriage won't move when I open the top.
I tried the Help section, which asked me to check which port the printer is connected to. The only port that has a printer name next to it refers to an old printer I got rid of years ago.
In the printer queue, the documents that failed to print (and which I've now deleted) don't have the correct name, just a line of letters and numbers starting mhtml:mid// - don't know if this is significant?
The only thing I can think of that's different is that I've recently saved a document from my camera software as an xps. But I've done that before without any problem.
I'd be really grateful for any help.

Would I need to find the original software? - because I don't think I can, and I didn't set it up myself anyway. If it's just a matter of pressing a few keys, that's Ok, but if it's anything more drastic I'd probably make a mess of it.
It definitely seems to be the hardware that's the problem.

Finally sorted. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no change, so decided it must be the cartridge not properly engaged. My husband is braver than I am, so he fiddled around within the printer and released the carriage; the cartridge was not in correctly (which surprised me as I am usually very careful about that).
