message to many items on start up menu

i keep getting message as above tells me to go into control panel and raise resolution for the screen i do this and do it exactly as it says but it keeps revertint back to the large on display icons can anyone help

Not sure what you mean but if you go to Control panel,Display,and select Appearance then Advanced,then Icon (from the drop down list) and select what size you want it to be.
Re Resolution. Go to Control panel then Settings and adjust the resolution slider till you get a screen that suits your eyes.You must click Apply then OK or the changes will be lost.Hope this helps
