downloaded font

i've downloaded a new font , how do i now install it on my computer so i can actually use it ? i have windows xp pro

Has it downloaded as a file that you can click on and there are options for stuff you can do with it?

Plus you won't be able to use it on most internet sites.

yes it has downloaded as a compressed file with the usual options in the drop down menu , open search explore ,extract all ,scan, send to etc etc , none of which seem to be what i need to actually install the font , also i only need it for files that i will be using and printing out

If I remember correctly go to C\Windows\Font. Open the folder, drag and drop the font you downloaded into there.

First, right-click and choose extract all. Make a note of where you extract it to
Next, open control panel and run the Fonts applet
Click File/Install new font
Browse to the folder where you extracted it.
Select the font(s)
Ensure that "Copy fonts to fonts folder" is checked
Click OK

Many fonts, once extracted, you just R-click ... and .. Install
