I have seriouly fault esk op which wikl be a problem to repair so I am using my laptop. I have a good hard rvie which I wish to connect to my laprop so I assume that there is a suitable preripheral with which I can do this. My local shops don't have much of a clue and are unsure of a device into whcih I can insert my drive and connect to my laptop. There is obviouls no need to advertise against the Answerbank rules but what should I be asking or looking for.
LOL, it's not the easiest to read :)
You require a USB hard drive caddy, as you have already realised yourself there is a difference between SATA and IDE so obviously you need to get a matching caddy, the other thing to take into consideration is if it's a 2.5inch hard drive (laptop style) or a 3.5inch hard drive (desktop style)

If you look at the above link there are a selection of 2.5 and 3.5inch caddies in both SATA and IDE, once you have determined which sort you need just look for the cheapest you can find (ebay is a good place to get them too)
