If you have not got the latest SP then you need to do a windows update. (if one hasn't been done for ages you may need to do it a few times to get them all, just keep doing it until it says no more updates)
And I mean you need to do a windows update to keep your system secure in general, not just to get the latest SP.
If you have not got updates set to automatic then you will need to run a update about once a month to ensure your system is kept up to date!

You see .. it's a similar situation to recommending a bit of software and linking to a non-author's site.
Besides, there are plenty of websites that unwittingly host 3rd party cookies, etc, and backdoor rubbish to worry about.
I've used it for a few years now.
The security updates .. for instance XP .. are easy to see what's what, with a description of what they achieve. Try doing that on WU.

I'm not saying it's a dodgy site, but it's a simple rule, OS updates and patches are only downloaded from the vendors website. any engineer that worked for me would get warnings and eventually lose their job if they persisted downloading security updates for an OS from anywhere other than the vendors site (or a company approved WSUS server)
I do try to a certain extent to keep my IT head on when answering IT questions on here and will normally try and recommend what is generally considered to be industry best practices when it comes to security..... and with all due respect to hughes, if they need to ask where to get SP2 from then it should be drummed into them that they get it from Microsoft (the vendor) and from nowhere else.
