During the course of an evening I can be in and out of AB a dozen or more times.. However, I keep switching off and re-starting every time.

It is a matter of my wishing to preserve the life of my HP Comp. which is operating on Windows Vista and being used on BT Broadband.

Put it to "sleep".
You can leave it on but turn the monitor off. It's the screen that uses most of the electricity.
If you are accessing the internet that frequently, then I say you should leave it on.

As far as broadband usage is concerned, then the bandwidth utilisation between accesses is minimal. The only downloads that will occur between uses are the updates of the 'recent posts' pod.

My advice therefore is to leave it on for the evening. switch it off when you go to bed.
